Jailhouse Video of Murder Mom Casey Anthony Released

A video showing Casey Anthony’s guilty reaction to learning her daughter’s remains had been discovered has finally been released.  The 2.27 minute video was filmed inside a Florida jail in 2008 where Casey was held prior to the discovery of her then ‘missing’ daughter Casey’s corpse.

Of fairly poor quality, the grainy video shows Casey Anthony looking guilty as sin so its no surprise that her defense team wanted to keep it under wraps – at least until they could get murder mom off the hook.

The video shows Anthony in the waiting room of the jail’s medical facility, when she looks up at a TV screen and sees a news report on the discovery of Caylee Anthony’s remains.  Casey appears to double over with her hands in her lap and then appears to breathe heavily.

Although under kept secure from the press since 2009 the video has now been leaked and shows yet another aspect of Casey’s guilt.

Casey, 25, was found not guilty of murdering her daughter Caylee. She was found GUILTY on four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

Terry Francona, Red Sox split

Terry Francona and the Red Sox agreed that he will not return as manager, the team announced on Friday.

Francona met with owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner, team president Larry Lucchino, general manager Theo Epstein and assistant GM Ben Cherington on Friday at Fenway Park. He left and then returned.

Epstein initially put out a statement saying all sides wanted to think about the meeting and no announcement was forthcoming, but then a statement came out in the evening in which Francona indicated it was his decision to move on.

"I've always maintained that it is not only the right, but the obligation, of ownership to have the right person doing this job," he said. "I told them that out of my enormous respect for this organization and the people in it, they may need to find a different voice to lead the team.

"In my eight seasons as manager of the Boston Red Sox, I have developed a tremendous appreciation for Red Sox Nation. This is a special place with some of the most knowledgeable and passionate fans in all of baseball. They packed Fenway Park for every game and because of them, I had a special sense of pride coming to work every day."

The team portion of the release said that Red Sox brass agreed with Francona.

"During the meeting, Tito, Theo and Ben agreed that the Red Sox would benefit from an improved clubhouse culture and higher standards in several areas," the statement said. "Tito said that after eight years here he was frustrated by his difficulty making an impact with the players, that a different voice was needed, and that it was time for him to move on. After taking time to reflect on Tito's sentiments, we agreed that it was best for the Red Sox not to exercise the option years on his contract."

Francona had told staff members on Thursday that he would not be returning as manager, a club source told ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes on Friday.

Several other media outlets reported Friday that Francona would not return for a ninth season. He led the Red Sox to World Series titles in 2004 -- their first since 1918 -- and 2007.

Saying he had a "personal friendship" with Francona and praising him for being "an unflappable leader," Epstein granted that the Red Sox might need a new voice. But he said that Francona's "next team will benefit more than it knows from hearing Tito's voice. I will miss seeing Tito every day in the manager's office, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in their next chapter."

Red Sox slugger David Ortiz said earlier Friday he was "fine with Tito" but he did hint that the clubhouse had issues, something Francona acknowledged on Thursday.

"I worry about playing baseball more than anything else," Ortiz said. "I know we have some players that (the organization thought were) worried about some other s--- and sometimes there were certain things that no one in the clubhouse can control. I was trying and I have no issues. My only problem was when I started being benched (in 2010) and that was my only issue with Tito. Other than that we're cool."

Ortiz wasn't expecting Francona to leave. "I am surprised," he said. "I'm surprised because I'm hearing things right now (in the news) that I didn't know were going on."

On Thursday, Francona said that this Red Sox team had issues that he thought affected its play. He spoke Thursday about a team meeting he called in Toronto in the aftermath of a 14-0 win on Sept. 6.

"I'm not sure if anybody knew, because there were some things I was worried about," he said. "I think we were spending too much energy on things that weren't putting our best foot forward toward winning. We spent a few minutes in the clubhouse that day, talking about that. There were some things that did concern me.

"Teams normally, as the season progresses, there are events that make you care about each other, and this club, it didn't always happen as much as I wanted it to. And I was frustrated by that."

The Boston Herald reported one divisive issue, citing sources as saying that pitchers were allowed to drink beer in the clubhouse on their off-days. A Red Sox source not only confirmed to ESPNBoston.com that was the case, but also said that it "has been going on for two years."

Ortiz is a free agent and was asked if the manager leaving would affect him re-signing with Boston.

"Not at all," he said. "That's one thing I can't really control, who the manager's going to be. That's not on me."

Michael Jackson 'Wasn't Right,' Choreographer Testifies

Kenny Ortega testifies during Conrad Murray's manslaughter trial on Tuesday

After dramatic opening statements from prosecutors and the defense, the manslaughter trial of former Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray began Tuesday with gripping testimony from Jackson's friend and former choreographer, "This is It" documentary director Kenny Ortega.

"My friend wasn't right. ... There was something going on that was deeply troubling me," Ortega said of Jackson's demeanor on June 19, a week before the singer's death. Ortega testified that although Jackson was "very excited" about his upcoming 50-date "This is It" series of comeback shows at London's O2 Arena, the pop icon seemed ill in the days before his passing, missing numerous rehearsals from mid- to late June 2009.

According to TMZ, Ortega said Jackson left rehearsals early on the 19th, after seemingly not eating anything all day, which prompted the director to send an email to Randy Phillips, the CEO of AEG Live, the show's promoter. "There is no one taking responsibility, caring for him on a daily basis," Ortega wrote. "I was feeding him, wrapping him in blankets ... and calling his doctor."

Ortega described Jackson as "incoherent" and said he confronted Murray during an emergency meeting at the singer's home June 20, during which the doctor became upset that the choreographer would not let Jackson rehearse and accused him of trying to act like a doctor. Ortega also said he thought Jackson was abusing drugs and that just four days after appearing so sick, the "Thriller" singer was back at rehearsals June 23 full of energy and ready to work.

AEG co-CEO Paul Gongaware later testified that it was Jackson's idea to extend his string of 10 sold-out shows with an additional 21 gigs to bring the total to 31 in order to beat longtime rival Prince's record of 21 sold-out gigs at the O2. He also said that even after selling out all 50 shows, there was a list of 250,000 people waiting for tickets.

And while Gongaware described Jackson as seeming a little "off" and speaking in slurred speech when he first met him in the early stages of rehearsal, longtime friend and fitness trainer Lou Ferrigno said he saw no signs of physical distress during workouts a couple weeks before the singer died.

The former "Hulk" star said that two weeks before Jackson's passing, he watched as the pop icon trained for an hour at his rented Beverly Hills mansion, doing cardio on a treadmill, working with light weights and doing core exercises. Ferrigno described Jackson's energy level as very good, but did note that his friend complained of having trouble sleeping.

Earlier in the day, prosecutors showed a previously unseen, graphic image of the 50-year-old Jackson's body on a hospital gurney and claimed in opening statements that they planned to show that Murray repeatedly acted with gross negligence and incompetence in administering a drug cocktail to Jackson.

Murray, who was working on a $150,000-a-month retainer, faces four years in prison and the loss of his medical license if found guilty.

Defense attorney Ed Chernoff countered by telling the jury that Jackson caused his own death by swallowing eight 2-milligram pills of the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam, as well as injecting himself with a dose of the surgical anesthetic propofol that instantly killed him. Testimony in the trial continues Wednesday (September 28).

Report: iPhone 5 to Be Released October 14?

Today's installment in the ongoing iPhone 5 release date guestimation saga: It's beginning to look a lot like mid-October. Apple Insider is reporting that Apple has been "quietly denying" employee vacation requests for two periods in the middle of October, suggesting that it might be expecting a lot of demand from customers around that time, for some reason.

(MORE: Report: Apple's Tim Cook to Unveil iPhone 5 on October 4)

The two periods have been identified by insiders as October 9-12 and 14-15. The first period is expected to see the release of iOS 5 for existing iOS device users—AppleCare divisions have apparently been told to prepare for an increased volume of inquiries at the same time—with the second finally seeing the long-awaited release of the iPhone 5, 10 days after the assumed-announcement date of October 4.

If true, these dates would follow the model of iOS release/iPhone upgrade established by 2009's iOS3/iPhone 3 release (June 17/21) and last year's iOS4/iPhone 4 (June 21/24). Perhaps it's time to start thinking about lining up outside the nearest Apple store right now, just in case...

NL Pennant Race Panic Meter: What's wrong with the Braves? What's right with the Cardinals?

Just a few weeks ago the Atlanta Braves appeared to have a playoff spot locked up. After a 5-2 win over the Washington Nationals on September 1, the Braves were a season-high 26 games over .500 at 81-55 and owned a 8½ game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card race.

The next night they were leading the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 at home, but blew the game, losing 8-6. That started their collapse, as they have gone 8-15 since then, which is the worst record in the NL starting on September 2.

So what’s gone wrong and who’s to blame on the Braves?

The Braves are struggling against left-handed pitching during their September to forget. The team is hitting .240/.276/.323 against left-handed pitching this month, and have lost four of six games started by southpaws.

A number of Braves position players have struggled since the start of the month. Chipper Jones is 3-for-22 with five strikeouts in his last seven games. Since coming off the DL in mid-August, Brian McCann is hitting .174 with a sub-.300 OBP.

The Braves have been hindered by injuries to two of their top starting pitchers - Jair Jurrjens and Tommy Hanson – while veteran Derek Lowe is 0-4 with an 8.24 ERA in his last four starts.

The bullpen that was so reliable in the first five months has been unstable in the finals weeks. Jonny Venters has a 5.84 ERA since August 23, and Craig Kimbrel has a 6.75 ERA since September 9. The bullpen has five blown saves this month, only the Cubs and Mets have more.

On the other side of the ledger, the Cardinals playoff hopes appeared to be on life support just a few weeks ago. Following a 4-1 loss to the Brewers on September 5, the Cardinals trailed by 8½ games in the Wild Card race.

Since then they have won 14 of 18, including a three-game sweep of the Braves. They have the best record in the NL starting on September 6 and have pulled to within one game of the Wild Card lead.

So what’s gone right for the Cardinals during their recent hot streak?

Matt Holliday missed nine games with an injured hand, but Allen Craig stepped up in his place. Craig has started eight of those nine games, and is hitting .281 with six extra-base hits, including three home runs.

Albert Pujols has looked like the Albert Pujols we’ve come to expect at this time of the season. He’s hitting .374 with five homers and 19 RBI in September, ranking among the league leaders this month.

The Cardinals have also gotten an unexpected offensive boost from shortstop Rafael Furcal. After hitting one home run in 37 games with the Dodgers, he’s hit seven in 48 games with the Cardinals. All seven of his homers have come with the score either tied or within two runs.

The Braves finish up with three home games against the Philadelphia Phillies, who have the majors' best record, while Cardinals face the league's worst team, the Houston Astros, in their final three games.

Brooklyn Nets: Jay-Z Announces New Name For NBA Team

Jay-Z announced Monday morning that the Nets will be called the Brooklyn Nets when the team moves from New Jersey to its new home next fall at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The team's official NBA web page has been updated, with a short, simple statement to reflect the change: "Jersey Strong, Brooklyn Ready."

The hip-hop mogul also announced that he'll headline a series of concerts -- as many as eight -- at the arena when it opens, the New York Daily News reports.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, owns a small stake in the Nets, according to My Fox NY. He grew up in the Marcy Houses, a public housing complex in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn.

"This is my foundation," he said in an interview with Good Day New York's Rosanna Scotto (available below).

"I'm really giddy right now," he added, clearly excited by the announcement.

The Barclays Center is being built as part of the Atlantic Yards development in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. The controversial project was announced in 2004 but has been mired in delays.

Woman Decapitated For Social Network Postings

Police found the body of a woman who had been decapitated in Mexican border city on Saturday. Along with the body, police discovered a note saying that she had been killed because of the things she posted on a social networking site! The postings appeared on her local social networking site, Nuevo Laredo en Vivo, profile and trace back to a drug cartel.

Police found a woman’s decapitated body in a Mexican border city on Saturday, alongside a handwritten sign saying she was killed in retaliation for her postings on a social networking site.

The gruesome killing may be the third so far this month in which people in Nuevo Laredo were killed by a drug cartel for what they said on the internet.

Morelos Canseco, the interior secretary of northern Tamaulipas state, where Nuevo Laredo is located, identified the victim as Marisol Macias Castaneda, a newsroom manager for the Nuevo Laredo newspaper Primera Hora.

The newspaper has not confirmed that title, and an employee of the paper said Macias Castaneda held an administrative post, not a reporting job. The employee was not authorized to be quoted by name.

But it was apparently what the woman posted on the local social networking site, Nuevo Laredo en Vivo, or “Nuevo Laredo Live,” rather than her role at the newspaper, that resulted in her killing.

The site prominently features tip hotlines for the Mexican army, navy and police, and includes a section for reporting the location of drug gang lookouts and drug sales points – possibly the information that angered the cartel.

The message found next to her body on the side of a main thoroughfare referred to the nickname the victim purportedly used on the site, “La Nena de Laredo,” or “Laredo Girl.” Her head was found placed on a large stone piling nearby.

“Nuevo Laredo en Vivo and social networking sites, I’m The Laredo Girl, and I’m here because of my reports, and yours,” the message read. “For those who don’t want to believe, this happened to me because of my actions, for believing in the army and the navy. Thank you for your attention, respectfully, Laredo Girl…ZZZZ.”

The letter “Z” refers to the hyper-violent Zetas drug cartel, which is believed to dominate the city across from Laredo, Texas.

It was unclear how the killers found out her real identity.

By late Saturday, the chat room at Nuevo Laredo en Vivo was abuzz with fellow posters who said they knew the victim from her online postings, and railing against the Zetas, a gang founded by military deserters who have become known for mass killings and gruesome executions.

They described her as a frequent poster, who used a laptop or cell phone to send reports.

“Girl why didn’t she buy a gun given that she was posting reports about the RatZZZ … why didn’t she buy a gun?” wrote one chat participant under the nickname “Gol.”

Earlier this month, a man and a woman were found hanging dead from an overpass in Nuevo Laredo with a similar message threatening “this is what will happen” to internet users. However, it has not been clearly established whether the two had in fact ever posted any messages, or on what sites.

Residents of Mexican border cities often post under nicknames to report drug gang violence, because the posts allow a certain degree of anonymity.

Social media like local chat rooms and blogs, and networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, are often the only outlet for residents of violence-wracked cities to find out what areas to avoid because of ongoing drug cartel shootouts or attacks.

Local media outlets, whose journalists have been hit by killings, kidnappings and threats, are often too intimidated to report the violence.

Mexico’s Human Rights Commission says eight journalists have been killed in Mexico this year and 74 since 2000. Other press groups cite lower numbers, and figures differ based on the definition of who is a journalist and whether the killings appeared to involve their professional work.

While helpful, social networking posts sometimes are inaccurate and can lead to chaotic situations in cities wracked by gang confrontations. In the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, just south of Tamaulipas, the state government dropped terrorism charges last week against two Twitter users for false posts that officials said caused panic and chaos in late August.

Coach K: Conference change 'evolution'

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said Saturday night grabbing Syracuse and Pittsburgh away from the Big East would be a major coup.

"It's actually pretty exciting," Krzyzewski said. "I think it's great for our conference football-wise, even better basketball-wise. Wherever this is going to end up, four big-time conferences or five, whatever it is, you want to be perceived as No. 1 in football and basketball.

"The last few years the ACC has lost some of that but over the last 25 years if you had to pick the best conference in basketball it is the ACC. Lately, it hasn't been that. It's been a really good conference. But to me this is in some ways a coup for basketball."

Florida State president Eric Barron confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday before the Seminoles played No. 1 Oklahoma that Syracuse and Pittsburgh have applied to join the ACC.

Hours after Barron spoke, the ACC announced it will have a teleconference Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. ET.

If the two schools are to join the ACC, Krzyzewski doesn't want the conference to stop at 14 teams. He said he'd like to see 16 teams, taking two more schools that have comparable rich basketball traditions and are in the Eastern time zone. An ACC official told USA Today that Connecticut and Rutgers would be the candidates.

"I'm proud of the leadership of our conference to be ahead of things," Krzyzewski said. "We're in a period of change. Whether everyone agrees with it or doesn't agree with it -- change is happening. It's not a revolution, it's evolution. These things are happening.

"The NBA had the ABA. The NFL had the AFL. There was once no BCS. The NIT was once better than the NCAA (tournament). When it happens while you're doing it, it seems like it shouldn't happen, but it is. I think the leadership in our conference is doing a great job of getting ahead. It's good thinking, especially if everything goes down with these two schools that have great athletic programs. They are unbelievable fits for our conference."

Krzyzewski, the longest-serving coach in basketball or football in the ACC, said the ACC should move to two divisions in basketball if Syracuse and Pitt are added while also going to 18 games instead of the current 16-game model.

"It's about the time zone," Krzyzewski said. "If we're going to do this at 14, I would love to keep all the members we now have. I'm not sure that will happen. But we're being proactive and that's good. We're giving the 12 we have the knowledge that we've been proactive and the leader in this. It will become tougher to leave. Our conference is getting stronger. It's easy to leave a conference when it's weaker."

Krzyzewski said he would like to see the ACC go to 16 for an easy eight-team divisional split in basketball and football with champions of two divisions.

"We can keep the round robin in each division and keep some tradition," Krzyzewski said. "I wouldn't want to see one line of 14 or 16 teams. One of the weaknesses of the current Big East is that you never know who plays one another. The SEC hasn't been able to define their two divisions in basketball as well as they have in football."

The SEC will move to one line of 12 teams this season in basketball for the first time but keep an East-West scheduling format that mirrors the football divisions. Adding a 13th member in 2012, if Texas A&M officially joins the conference, probably won't change the basketball format of having one line from one to 13.

"We can be innovative with the caliber of teams we'll have in two divisions," Krzyzewski said. "We can come up with a new model. I think it would be really exciting and great for our branding. These moves will give our conference great stature."

Pitt has been a traditional Big East men's basketball power since coach Jamie Dixon arrived, while Syracuse has been a Big East title contender since it joined the Big East at the conference's inception under coach Jim Boeheim.

"Things are going to happen so you might as well be in control as much as possible," Krzyzewski said.
Out of its 16 teams, the Big East had a record 11 schools make the men's NCAA tournament last March. Meanwhile, the ACC had four of its 12 make the tournament. Pitt and Syracuse would immediately shoot to the top of the ACC with North Carolina and Duke.

"We're adding two outstanding basketball programs," Krzyzewski said. "Two really outstanding basketball programs."

Mayweather vs Ortiz knockout mired in controversy

Mayweather extends unbeaten run to 42 pro fights

Floyd Mayweather Jr took the WBC welterweight title from Victor Ortiz with a controversial fourth-round knockout on Saturday that prompted an angry response from the crowd and raised questions about his conduct in the ring.

Aggressive puncher Ortiz had knocked down 12 of his previous 13 opponents and he pinned fellow American Mayweather against the ropes before being penalised by referee Joe Cortez for a head-butt.

After a brief time-out, Ortiz apologised to his opponent in the centre of the ring by touching gloves before Mayweather suddenly responded with a left hook and crunching right that dropped Ortiz to the canvas at 2:59.

Boos rang out from the crowd in the MGM Grand Garden Arena but Mayweather, who improved his professional career record to a perfect 42-0 with 26 knockouts, was unrepentant.

“I got hit with a dirty shot, I was protecting myself at all times,” the 34-year-old said ringside. “I hit him with a left and then a right hand, and that ended the bout.”

Asked to describe what happened as a replay of the final moments was shown on a giant television screen, Mayweather replied: “We touched gloves and we were back to fighting, then I threw the left and right hand and that’s all she wrote.

”In the ring, you just have to protect yourself at all times. I was victorious. If he wants a re-match, he can get a re-match.“

Mayweather, widely regarded as the best defensive fighter of his generation, then showered his interviewer with abuse and said he had never been given ”a fair shake“.

Ortiz, who took the WBC welterweight title from Andre Berto in April with an unanimous points victory, conceded the head-butt had been unfortunate but was eager to get a re-match with Mayweather.

ORTIZ APOLOGY

”I apologised to him,“ the 24-year-old southpaw said after slipping to 29-3-2 with 22 knockouts. ”I am not a dirty fighter. I am sorry for that. But I was doing just fine until that slip-up so I would love this re-match.“

Ortiz, who had said during the fight’s build-up that he had never been especially impressed by Mayweather’s fighting credentials, gave his own version of how the bout had ended.

”I was called to break by the referee (after the head-butt) and I obeyed exactly as I was told,“ he said.

”And then, boom, he blindsided me. It happens."

“As far as I was concerned, I came here to entertain the fans and I think they were entertained. There was a miscommunication with the referee but nobody is perfect and this was a learning experience.”

Watched by a crowd of around 15,000 that included former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, American pop singer Christina Aguilera and basketball great Magic Johnson, Mayweather made a confident start.

He landed several body shots early in the opening round and dictated the tempo with a series of accurate right jabs.

Though Ortiz forced Mayweather to back-peddle for much of round two and twice pinned him against the ropes, his opponent responded with a couple of crunching rights to retain control.

Mayweather continued to dominate, maintaining the initiative with accurate punching in round three and then upped the pace in the fourth before getting the knockout he had predicted earlier in the week.

He dominated the official ringside statistics, connecting with 73 of 208 punches thrown to 26 of 148 for Ortiz. Mayweather also landed 61 power punches compared to Ortiz’s 26.

Earlier on Saturday, Mexican boxing great Erik Morales, at the age of 35, stopped compatriot Pablo Cesar Cano after 10 of 12 scheduled rounds to claim the vacant WBC super lightweight world title.

It’s Floyd Mayweather Vs. Victor Ortiz Fight Night In Las Vegas

Floyd Mayweather will make at least $25 million at work tonight. Victor Ortiz will make about a tenth of that. A tithing, if you will.

Mayweather weighed 146.5 pounds at yesterday's choke-involved weigh-in at MGM Grand's Grand Garden Arena. Ortiz came in at 147. A negligible difference.

Said Mayweather, "I just have to keep my composure, stick to my game plan, and listen to what my (trainer) Uncle Roger tells me."

Predicted Ortiz to his foe's face, "You're going down, you're going down."

Maybe he's right. He's probably wrong. That's why you watch, to find out.

Here's the undercard/other fights shown PPV:
Erik "El Terrible" Morales (51-7) vs. Pablo Cesar Cano (22-0-1)
Jessie Vargas (16-0) vs. Josesito Lopez (29-3)
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (37-0-1) vs. Alfonso Gomez (23-4-2)

Did you pony up $69.95 to watch those, and the WBC welterweight title tilt, at home? Pay the $20 cover at a strip club to indulge in fights and boobs, but, for some reason, are staring at your smartphone instead of CInnamon on the main stage? Just lonely and want to be part of something potentially special?

Ron Paul, now more electable than ever

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, has a good chance of winning his party’s nomination and the presidency next year, yet few in the media (mainstream or otherwise) seem to notice.

Ensuring that voters understand this is essential to having an informed discussion about the direction the country should take in the coming years. This is especially true because of the frequency in which people write off the congressman since they consider him unelectable.

Before we begin, I should note that I write this as someone who does not agree with Paul on everything, does not belong to any group advocating his election...I also write this, however, as someone who shares his passion for promoting personal and economic freedom and as someone who believes he is probably the only presidential candidate from any party that has a chance of doing net good while in office...

New Book: Sarah Palin And Glen Rice Had One-Night Stand & Palin Had Fetish For Black Men

The National Enquirer grabbed some details from the upcoming Joe McGinniss Sarah Palin book (out Sept. 20th). Apparently Palin had a fling with former Heat/Hornet/Laker Glen Rice while he was in college and while she was a sports reporter in Alaska, all the way back in 1987. Rice confirms it in the book.

Here’s the Enquirer:

In the book, which will be published on September 20th, McGinniss claims Sarah had a steamy interracial hookup with basketball stud Glen Rice less than a year before she eloped with her husband Todd.
Sarah hooked up with the NBA great, then a 6-foot-8 junior at the University of Michigan when he was playing in a college basketball tournament in Alaska in 1987, the book says.
At the time, Sarah, just out of college, was working as a sports reporter for the Anchorage TV station KTUU.
A publishing source told The ENQUIRER that McGinniss claims Sarah had a “fetish” for black men at the time and he quotes a friend as saying Sarah had “hauled (Rice’s) ass down.”
[...]
In the book, McGinniss quotes Rice as confirming the one-night stand.

Tropical storm Maria heads to Atlantic Canada

Canadian Hurricane Centre predicting eastern Newfoundland may be hit hardest

Tropical Storm Maria is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Atlantic Canada and hit eastern Newfoundland the hardest, according to the Canadian Hurricane Centre.

On Wednesday morning, Maria was about 900 kilometres south-southwest of Bermuda, with winds blowing at about 90 km/h The centre’s forecasters say it’s difficult to say where the storm will travel.

“Forecast is highly uncertain, even two days away,” the centre said in a statement issued Wednesday morning. “The probability of winds directly from Maria is greatest for eastern Newfoundland but it it equally possible that the wind from Maria pases south of Newfoundland.”

Rainfall is expected to occur over many parts of eastern Canada on Friday, even if Maria dissipates and moves well to the south.

“However if Maria and its tropical moisture fully merge with a cold front that is expected to move into the area, the potential for the heaviest rainfall will be over eastern Newfoundland,” according to the centre.

“Fifty to 75 millimetres is certainly not out of the question, as we see it at this point.”

The centre said gale and possible storm force winds can be expected around Atlantic Canada on Friday.

Wiz Khalifa And Amber Rose Married?

Wiz Khalifa and girlfriend Amber Rose were the subject of headlines this past weekend after photos emerged of the two that suggested the pair were married in Las Vegas recently. In one of two photos revealed, a suited up Wiz Khalifa is seen serenading the lovely Rose who was all decked out in a pearl white gown. While there's been no confirmation if the two lovebirds tied the knot the couple have recently made it clear marriage was soon in their future.

We discuss it all the time; like he said, we're very much in love," Rose told MTV News while standing next to her "Black and Yellow" rapper beau on the VMA Pre-Show black carpet. "But, ya know, we're just going to take our time and just enjoy each other right now. We're both really busy and we work really hard and when the time comes, it's gonna come."

Besides working on some music and a film with her man, Rose said having a baby with Wiz is also on her agenda. The former Ford model and ex-girlfriend of Kanye West recently admitted to Global Grind that she's eager to procreate with the Pittsburgh rapper. "I want to be a mom really bad. I really want babies," she told the website. "I'll be 28 in October, and my maternal instinct is ready."

In March, Wiz appeared on MTV News' "RapFix Live," and Amber Rose joined him on the couch for a portion of the interview. Rose revealed what attracted her to the Best New Artist nominee.

"He's really funny, he's really charming," she said. "I didn't know much about his music at first and, obviously, he became a good friend. I started listening to his music. He's awesome, he's talented. He's amazing."

FBI Put American On Their Ten Most Wanted List, Who Is Believed To Be Plotting 9/11 Anniversary Car Bombing

This is believed to be one of the men counter terrorism chiefs say are plotting a terrorist attack in America on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

An image of American-born 22-year-old Jude Kenan Mohammad has been posted on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list.

He has been linked to what officials have called a credible but unconfirmed al-Qaeda threat to set off a car bomb on bridges or tunnels in New York City or Washington.

The Wall Street Journal reported Mohammad is among three al-Qaeda leaders that investigators believe pose a particular threat because they have lived in the U.S.

Should that mission prove impossible, the attackers have been told to simply cause as much destruction as they can.

Mohammad, who was born in Florida, dropped out of North Carolina’s Fuquay-Varina High School in 2006 and left the U.S. two years later to visit Pakistan, his father’s homeland.

A federal grand jury in North Carolina indicted him and seven other men in 2009 on charges that they conspired to carry out terrorist activities around the world. Two of the men have pleaded guilty, and the trial of four others is set for September 19 in New Bern.

Federal authorities have never arrested Mohammad in the case, saying that they believe he has been in Pakistan since the indictment was issued.

-__- MOMENT: Social Media Will Turn You Into an Alcoholic, Pill-Popping Pothead

According to the National Survey on American Attitudes Towards Substance Abuse XVI (I much preferred XV's findings), Facebook can "influence" your underage child to drink, Twitter will turn them into a pothead (follow me on Twitter!), and Jersey Shore will turn them into a pill-popping troglodytes* (I'm paraphrasing). It's no coincidence the survey was conducted by CASA, or the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. What's that you say? Bias? Psshaw. What bias?

The studies author, Joseph Califano, who also happens to be the founder and chairman of Columbia University's National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, claims in a written statement:

"The findings in this year's survey should strike Facebook fear into the hearts of parents of young children and drive home the need for parents to give their children the will and skill to keep their heads above the water of the corrupting cultural currents their children must navigate.[...] The time has come for those who operate and profit from social networking sites like Facebook to deploy their technological expertise to curb such images and to deny use of their sites to children and teens who post pictures of themselves and their friends drunk, passed out or using drugs. Continuing to provide the electronic vehicle for transmitting such images constitutes electronic child abuse."

Electronic child abuse. Hmmm, does Califano know how easy it is to get porn on the Internet? Does that mean all ISP providers are guily of electronic child abuse?  Do parents ever really do any parenting anymore, or do we let studies like this decide how we're going to raise our kids? Don't drink and do drugs when you're young. You'll turn into a cast member for a Jersey Shore spinoff. Wait, now I sound like Califano? Parents should know what their kids are getting into. 12-17 year-olds are going to do drugs and develop substance abuse problems regardless of who is tagging whom on someone's Facebook wall. If you're a parent (why are you reading this blog) make sure your kids know the dangers in all drug and alcohol use. At the end of the day, all you can do is educate them (I am not a father).

Speaking of social media leading to substance abuse (and completely shredding any credibility I might have--I don't have any). Make sure to follow me on:
Where were we? Right, social media.

Califano running this "study" would be like me claiming through my own "study" that marijuana makes everyone ten times smarter. I smoke marijuana, so my opinions are biased. Sorry for this confusing metaphor, but Joey Califano is the freakin' founder of Columbia's National Center on Substance Abuse! Of course he thinks social media leads to substance abuse. His job is substance abuse. I'm pretty sure if I looked hard enough, I could confirm that every drug abuser has at one point brushed their teeth. Is toothpaste the culprit?!

In other news, I did a study and pot leads to the munchies. Let's publish!

*Seriously, don't let your kids idolize Jersey Shore cast members. Teach them to laugh and mimic for the sake of LOL's and whatever kids are doing now.

Ben & Jerry’s Releases “Schweddy Balls” Ice Cream

“Schweddy Balls” isn’t a reference to a new work-out sensation — it’s a new, limited-batch ice cream flavor released by Ben & Jerry’s and inspired by a Saturday Night Live skit of the same name.

The skit stars Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon as hosts of the “Delicious Dish,” a parody of a National Public Radio program. Alec Baldwin portrays a hilarious Pete Schweddy, the fictional owner of Season’s Eatings Bakery, who explains poker-faced to the show hosts that he has a variety of balls — popcorn balls, cheese balls, rum balls suited for every taste among his special holiday offerings.

Alec Baldwin, who will be hosting the 37th season premiere of Saturday Night Live on September 24, expressed his appreciation for the ice cream homage.

“For a long time, I thought that ‘Here Lies Pete Schweddy’ would end up on my tombstone,” said the legendary comedian and “30 Rock” actor in a Ben & Jerry’s press release. “Now, thanks to Ben & Jerry’s, the goodness of the Schweddy family recipe won’t go with me to the great beyond. It is immortalized here, right now, and it’s an ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s and Schweddy. Two great names in American dessert, together at last.”

Original skit SNL cast member Ana Gasteyer also expressed her enthusiasm for the new flavor, “I am pleased as holiday punch that Ben and Jerry’s has taken it upon themselves to share the Schweddy Family recipe with the world. As a person and a performer, I am a sucker for holiday balls. And I have no doubt this ice cream will cause many to scream ‘Good Times,’” said Gasteyer via press release.

The novel ice cream isn’t the first time Ben & Jerry’s has spun a fun mixture of flavor and pop culture. Other limited edition treats like Stephen Colbert’s “Americancone Dream” and Jimmy Fallon’s “Late Night Snack” exemplify the company’s irreverence and sense of humor, says Ben & Jerry’s spokesperson Sam Greenwood.

“We’re such huge fans of SNL, so to connect our product with the show is a lucky treat for us – it’s a chance to celebrate and laugh at ourselves with a specific time to this classic skit. It’s obvious that people get the joke, and since the launch we’ve had only one complaint from someone who didn’t like it.”

The newest Ben & Jerry ice cream flavor, currently available at participating Ben & Jerry’s shops and at supermarkets across the country while supplies last, features Fair Trade rum-flavored vanilla ice cream with fudge covered rum balls and milk chocolate malt balls.

Lil Wayne's Carter IV Tops Billboard With Nearly A Million Sold

Get More: Music News

Hyped album moved 964,000 copies in its first week.

Lil Wayne was this close to making history as the first rap act to open with back-to-back million-selling albums. Thanks to record-setting iTunes sales of 300,000, plus the push provided by a post-VMA on-sale stunt, Weezy's eagerly anticipated Tha Carter IV will debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week on sales of 964,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

That's more than enough to win out over funky veterans the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who land at #2 with I'm With You thanks to sales of 229,000. That figure is less than half as much as the band's previous release, the double album Stadium Arcadium, which moved 443,000 copies in its first week on the charts in 2006.

Dance master David Guetta has a solid debut with his star-packed Nothing but the Beat, which lands at #5 (56,000), just barely edging out country singer Jake Owen's Barefoot Blue Jean Night (55,000).

A number of other artists got a VMA bump, including Adele, whose 21 is up 88 percent to 154,000 (putting her just shy of 3.3 million to date) and Beyoncé's 4, which climbs five spots to #7 as sales rose by 87 percent to 39,000. Perhaps the biggest boost, though, belonged to VMA performers Young the Giant, whose self-titled debut was up 189 percent to 10,000, jumping 88 spots to #42.

The rest of the top 10: Jay-Z and Kanye West, Watch the Throne (#4, 80,000); Game, The R.E.D. Album (#8, 39,000); Barbra Streisand, What Matters Most: Barbra Streisand Sings the Lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman (#9, 37,000) and NOW 39 (#10, 36,000).

Classic rocker Lenny Kravitz sneaks into the top 20 with his latest, Black and White America, which debuts at #18 (19,000), while country icon Glen Campbell's final album, Ghost on the Canvas, hits #24 (14,000) and Jill Scott hits #28 with The Original Jill Scott: From the Vault, Vol. 1 (13,000).

A few other acts got some VMA boost as well, including Chris Brown, whose F.A.M.E. is up 43 percent and eight spots to #44 (10,000) and Best New Artist winner Tyler, the Creator's Goblin, which surges 54 spots to #48 (10,000). Pre-show performers Cobra Starship debut at #50 with Night Shades (9,000). Not only does Lil Wayne top the charts, but his previous album, Tha Carter III, is up 79 percent to #72 on sales of 7,000.

Wayne, of course, tops the iTunes albums chart, followed by the Chili Peppers, Adele, Guetta, Jay and Kanye, a remastered version of the Beatles' 1, Owen, Foster the People's self-titled debut, the Pistol Annies' Hell on Heels and Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More.

The iTunes singles chart still belongs to Adele, who takes the week with her new single, "Someone Like You," beating out Foster the People's breakthrough "Pumped Up Kicks." In at #3 is "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5, then Lady Gaga's "You and I," Cobra Starship's "You Make Me Feel," Lil Wayne's "Mirror," Rihanna's "Cheers (Drink to That)," Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" and Beyoncé's "Love on Top."

With few major releases due this week, look for Wayne to keep the crown for another round.

Woman sues her husband because of no sex! Should sex be mandatory in marriage?

If you're married and unhappy with your sex life, should you sue your spouse?

That's exactly what a woman in France did recently. In a rare decision, a judge ordered her ex-husband pay $14,000 in damages for failing to have enough sex during their 21-year marriage. This raises the question, "Is sex a mandatory part of marriage?"

According to one American study from the General Social Survey, married men and women, on average, have sex with their spouse 58 times a year -- a little more than once a week. But 15 percent of married couples haven't had sex with their spouse in the last six months-to-one-year, according to a study conducted by Georgia State University.

So, should married couples be required to have sex, and if so, how often?

Cosmopolitan Executive Editor Nicole Beland and Matt Titus, author of "Why Hasn't He Called? How Guys Really Think," chimed in on the hot topic.

Watch the video above, and let us know, using the comments area of this story, whether you feel sex during a marriage should be mandatory.
